The construction of a Steam Power Plant (PLTU) involves various interconnected systems and equipment. In addition to the main power generation components, numerous supporting structures are required to accommodate equipment installation, piping routes, maintenance access, and installation supports.

Many of these requirements involve steel structures that must be manufactured according to technical drawings and project specifications. Fabrication accuracy is essential because each component will be installed and used as part of an industrial facility with specific operational requirements.

Steel Components Require Different Fabrication Processes

In a power plant facility, steel components can be found in pipe racks, platforms, support structures, stairways, handrails, and various equipment support frames.

Each component has different shapes and fabrication requirements. Steel profiles are used to form the main structural frames, while steel plates can be processed into connection plates, equipment mounting bases, and other supporting components.

Material dimensions and thicknesses are determined based on the design and engineering calculations. Therefore, material selection and fabrication methods must comply with the requirements established for each structural component.

Precision in Cutting, Drilling, and Welding

The fabrication process begins with cutting steel profiles and plates according to the dimensions specified in the technical drawings. The materials may then undergo drilling, forming, assembly, and welding processes.

At this stage, bolt hole positions and connection plate dimensions must be carefully controlled to ensure that components can be installed according to the design. For components using welded connections, the work must follow established procedures and undergo inspections in accordance with project requirements.

Dimensional inaccuracies can create difficulties during on-site assembly. Therefore, inspections throughout the production process are necessary to maintain fabrication accuracy.

Quality Inspection Before Delivery

Before being delivered to the power plant site, steel components must undergo final inspections. These may include dimensional checks, material condition assessments, welding quality inspections, bolt hole positioning, and verification against technical drawings.

For certain projects, inspections may also involve specific testing based on applicable standards and technical requirements. The purpose is to ensure that components meet the specified criteria before proceeding to the installation stage.

In addition to workmanship quality, component marking and grouping also help facilitate identification when materials arrive at the project site.

Surface Protection Based on Operating Conditions

Steel components in power plant facilities may be exposed to different environmental conditions. Therefore, surface protection must be selected according to the installation location and operational characteristics.

Industrial coating systems or galvanizing can be applied in accordance with project specifications. Surface preparation and coating inspections are important steps in helping maintain steel resistance to corrosion.

Planned Fabrication for Energy Infrastructure

In power plant construction, the quality of steel components depends on more than just the materials used. Dimensional accuracy, connection quality, fabrication methods, and inspection results also play important roles in meeting construction requirements.

Fabrication carried out in accordance with technical drawings and project specifications helps produce components suitable for assembly. This ensures that each steel structural component is properly prepared to support the construction and operational requirements of power generation facilities.
